The purpose of this survey is to find out the role of women trading through home-based businesses in the village of Lantak Seribu, Jambi Province and to find out what the Islamic economic perspective is about working women. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study type of research. Respondents selected for this study were identified using a purposive sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that women or housewives who trade in Lantak Seibu Village, Jambi Province can support and improve the family economy, and some women entrepreneurs do business because fulfilling household needs not only helps the family, but also becomes the backbone of family responsibilities, because housewives and shop owners can be managed properly without feeling burdened. Factors that encourage women or housewives to trade in the market are family finances, husband's income, number of dependents, expertise, education and age. In Islam, women are allowed to work as long as the work is done according to Islamic law and they have permission from men.
