Feminist movement in Sudan and its role in the social and political movement (1900-1969). E-JOURNAL



The Sudanese feminist movement crystallized in the political and social field, and it was brought into existence from the stage of secrecy and the feminist cultural and charitable societies, whose activity was initially limited to teaching women to read, write, and sew, so its role later turned to fighting the customs and traditions that prevent women from exercising their rights like men, so they succeeded. By forming different organizations, the most prominent of which was the Women's Union, which was formed in 1952, where it was adopted defending the rights of women not only in the field of education but also allowing women to participate in political life and allowing them to vote in elections and recognize their important role in society, as it succeeded in the field of journalism that was It is considered a weapon by which I fought the restriction of women's freedom in society. The most prominent of these newspapers is Voice of Women, which had a positive impact in informing women of their full rights through its publications, which informed Sudanese women about the progress of women in other countries, especially in Egypt and other countries. In addition to its important role in fighting the dictatorships that ruled Sudan, such as the regime of Ibrahim Abboud 1958.
