TEACHING ENGLISH SPEAKING IN MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION: TEACHER'S STRATEGIES AT PESANTREN AR-RAHMAN PALEMBANG.--
Multilingual education is education that emphasizes the use of three or more languages in the teaching and learning process and in communication so that English speaking skill is important for students in multilingual education. This study aimed to investigate the strategies used by English teachers in teaching English speaking skill to students in multilingual education at Pesantren ArRahman Palembang, Indonesia. This study used qualitative research, with a case study as the research design. The participant of this study was one of English teacher at Pesantren Ar-Rahman Palembang, obtained by using purposeful sampling technique. The data were collected through the interview which were then analyzed and presented descriptively using thematic analysis. The result of this study showed that there were several strategies used by English teacher in teaching English speaking skill to students in multilingual education, namely: a) building communication between teacher and students, b) building communication among students; and the last c) integrating Islamic values to speaking activities.
