UNDERGRADUATE EFL STUDENTS' PROBLEMS ON THE USE OF GOOGLE TRANSLATE:A CASE STUDY AT PGRI UNIVERSITY PALEMBANG.--

This study was aimed to find out the undergraduate EFL students’ problems on the use of Google Translate at PGRI University Palembang. The participants of this study were eight students of sixth semester at PGRI University Palembang in the academic year of 2021-2022 by using purposeful sampling technique. In this study, the writer applied a qualitative study with a case study design, which employed interviewed instrument for collecting the data. Meanwhile, in order to find out the undergraduate EFL students’ problems on the use of Google Translate at PGRI University Palembang, the data obtained from the interview sessions were analysed by using thematic analysis. This study revealed that there were six problems perceived by the Undergraduate EFL students’ on the use of Google Translate at PGRI University Palembang, such as: 1). Problems in translating the sentence with different structures, 2). Problems on the process of translation can make the ambiguity, 3). Need to edit the result of the translation process, 4). Problems in translating words with multiple meaning, 5). Problems occur in grammar accuracy, and 6). Problems that occur in translating with a long sentence. With the problems found, it is expected that the students can found the solution. Keywords: Google Translate, Problems
