This study aimed to reveal the challenges faced by the teacher in teaching English to young learners at SD Islam Khalifah Annizam Palembang. This study involved 1 teacher who taught English in grades 4, 5, and 6. Qualitative data was used in this research by using interview. The data of the interview was analyzed using thematic approach. The result of this study showed that the challenges faced by the teacher in teaching English to young learners at SD Islam Khalifah Annizam Palembang emerged from several sides. The challenges came from the students, the teacher, the school, and the parents. Namely, students’ lack of motivation, students’ lack of confidence, students’ lack of vocabulary, teacher’s pedagogical competency, lack of teaching source and materials, and lack of parents’ support.
