STUDENTS'PERCEPTONS ON THE USE OF WHATSAPP IN READING ACTIVITIES : A CASE STUDY AT MAN 1 MUARA ENIM.--

This study was intended to examine students' perceptions on the use of WhatsApp in reading activities at MAN 1 Muara Enim. This study used qualitative research with a case study to find and investigated students' perceptions of WhatsApp for reading activities. This research was conducted at MAN 1 Muara Enim with six students as participants by using purposeful sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher used interviews through openended questions. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis techniques. The results of this study based on interviews showed that there were perceptions in the implementation of WhatsApp for reading activities, as follows: of (a) Making interaction easy, (b) Motivating students to read and comprehend the text, (c) Enriching students vocabulary, (d) Networking problem, (e) Texting difficulties.
