EFL CLASSROOM INTERACTION AT MTS NAJAHIYAH PALEMBANG
Interaction plays an important role in language learning process in classroom setting. This study aimed to find out the kind of interaction happened in teaching and learning process. This study used a a case study method. This study was carried out at MTs Najahiyah Palembang. The participant of this study was one of the English teacher and one teacher of English and 7th grade students consisted of 20 students at MTs Najahiyah Palembang. This study used interviews through open-ended question with 6 items and observation checklist as an instrument to collect the data. For analyzing the data, thematic analysis was used in developing categories and sub-categories of the data. The finding showed that some kind of interaction happened in teaching and learning process. They were (1) TeacherStudents/ Whole Class Interaction, (2) Teacher-Student/ A Group of Student Interaction, (3) Student-Student Interaction, (4) Students/Students Interaction. Those types were important to know the interaction between teacher and students in teaching and learning process. Keywords: Classroom Interaction, EFL Classroom, Kind of Interaction.
