Integrated Web Design: Building the New Breed of Designer and Developer (e-journal)
Any book on Web design and development that starts with the line "the cool factor is dead" is going to grab the reader's attention. Luckily, this line is followed shortly by one that explains that after 10 years, despite the challenges of our current times, "the web remains vibrant" (p. 3).
Having survived the Web wars--those that started in the early to mid-90s as companies decided whether to join the revolution, through the high times of the Internet consulting companies such as Scient, iXL, Viant, and March First--I am able to relate to the brief history of such things as explained by Molly Holzschlag in Integrated Web design: Building the new breed of designer and developer. She reflects on a book that she wrote in 1995, proposing that "web design would soon shift from a one-man-band scenario to an orchestral model" (p. 3).
