In the late eighth decade of the last century, Algeria witnessed an
important political event that resulted from the Constitution of
February 23, 1989, through which the first foundations for political
pluralism were laid, according to which media pluralism was
produced, and this was manifested in the written press sector, which witnessed an unprecedented qualitative and quantitative development,
as a result of which independent newspapers appeared that played a
major role in working to spread awareness, consolidate democratic
principles and contribute to the promotion of the exercise of freedom
of expression. However, the situation in Algeria due to the signs of the
political crisis and its repercussions on all fields has made the
relationship between the independent press and the political authority
take different and dangerous dimensions as a result of some
harassment and obstacles that some independent newspapers have
become suffering from, which would lead to beating and undermining
freedom of expression in Algeria
