Technology as a mode of learning in an introductory social psychology class. (e-journal)
Six technology (i.e., Internet/Email) assignments were designed for and used as a supplemental technology mode of learning (TMOL) to an introductory social psychology course. Each assignment elaborated on a specific class topic, while abetting the participant to use and value technology by drawing connections between the topics and the assignments. Compared to students not enrolled in the TMOL, students who were enrolled demonstrated more learning of the class material, as well as reported a significantly more positive evaluation of technology, more frequent use of technology (both for class and for general purposes), and greater motivation to use technology in the future. Overall, the assignments were rated as both interesting and relevant to the class content. Instructions, protocol, and each assignment ate also presented.
