The effectiveness of a proposed training program for social studies' teachers based on the integration between the SWOT analysis tool and the PDCA performance improvement model to develop professional knowledge management skills and the ability of professional selfreflection e jurnal
The research aims to develop the skills of Professional knowledge management and the ability of Professional self-reflection for social studies teachers. To achieve this purpose, a proposed training program has been prepared based on the Spiral integration between two of the strategic planning tools.These two tools are: SWOT analysis tool and PDCA performance improvement model, the SWOT tool helps the teacher to specify Strength and Weakness points. It also helps to specify Opportunities and Threats to use this data in continuous improvement by using the PDCA which consists of 4 phases, These phases in order are: "P" for Plan, "D" for Do, "C" for Check and "A" for Act.The research specifies four skills for Professional Knowledge Management:formation of professional knowledge, dissemination of professional knowledge, Implement of professional knowledge and evaluation of professional knowledge. It also specifies three dimensions of professional self-reflection ability which are (preparation for reflection, teaching process reflection & the improvement of performance after reflection),The research tools are the professional knowledge management skills note card and the professional self-reflection measurement. The research sample reached 30 social studies teachers of both genders. The current research based on the experimental design with single experimental group. The results refer to statistically significant difference at significance level (0.01) between the average scores of the teachers of experimental group in the pre and post application for both of the professional knowledge management skills note card and the professional self-reflection measurement in favor of the post application. The results led to a positive correlation between Professional Knowledge Management skills and the ability of Professional self-reflection. The research recommends the necessity of taking the quality tools into consideration while preparing the social studies teacher's training programs. Student Teachers should also be trained on how to use these quality tools in improving the quality of teaching performance and professional development.
