Mobile computing as a cognitive tool for middle schools: connecting curriculum and technology (e-journal)
The use of mobile technologies has been rapidly increasing in recent years. Emerging from current mobile technologies, mobile learning, or m-learning, is beginning to offer stunning opportunities for education. The Mobile Computer Supported Cognitive Tool (MCSCT) model has been proposed to facilitate meaningful technology integration in middle schools. Two curriculum examples based on the MCSCT model are described in this study, the aim behind which is to inform the design and the development of mobile learning materials and systems. In addition, by highlighting pedagogic and technical issues, this study is a useful reference for practitioners, hardware and software developers, researchers, and others with an interest in mobile learning.
