Proceeding from the importance of studying the contemporary Arabic language at its various levels and forms, and as a continuation of a previous research effort that dealt with the patterns of the nominal sentence in models from a Qatari newspaper, this research comes to present a statistical grammatical study of the patterns of verbal structures in the Qatari newspaper Al-Raya, as an example of the language of contemporary journalism, through a research sample that includes twenty-four issues dating back to 2017, which is divided into three types of journalistic writing: the article (133 articles), the report (226 reports) and the news (650 press releases). The aim behind this study is clarifying the patterns of verbal contemporary structures in the selected sample, and to determine the extent of their variation according to the different written genres, as well as to identify some phenomena of the verbal sentence structures and their characteristics in this model, in terms of their linguistic modernity or change and distance from the norm. This will make us look at some structures in their general frameworks, whether they are related to the verbal or nominal sentence. For this reason, in the title, we coupled the term “its patterns” to “their general components.” This can be achieved through two main topics: the first deals with counting the patterns of verbal structures distributed over the elements of the verbal sentence and its grammatical types with examples, and the second topic is an analytical reading to find out the extent of the distribution of patterns of structures on the specific journalistic writing genres, in addition to addressing the characteristics of some structures and grammatical phenomena related to the verbal sentence –or other- In the language of the examined press sample.
