The Role of Social Media Platforms in Enhancing the Status of Television (YouTube as a mode) / Inductive study. E-JOURNAL

The study aims to investigate the transformations that have occurred on television as a result of the growing role of social media platforms, most importantly YouTube. This has changed the way television interacts with the public. Moreover, the study aims to explore the way to maintain the momentum of television through the use of the same communication platforms, specifically YouTube, and provide a space for television to integrate with social media platforms. This issue has become present with its adaptation on social media platforms, most notably YouTube as a site that allows television to reach to a wider audience. This study falls within inductive studies that are based on observation and deductions. It is also based on the theory of technological determinism by Marshall Mclohan and a group of approaches related to the new media, such as Negroponte and Crosby. The study consists of five parts. The study concluded that social media platforms have contributed to maintain the momentum and continuity of television, and enhanced its presence among the public, where the young people use social journalism in a wider way. The study also proved that social media platforms are a natural evolution of the communication phenomenon caused by the communication technology revolution. The technological revolution was embodied in the Internet, which did not aim to deny television as a traditional media, but aimed to push television to develop itself to keep pace with communication transformations.
