ABSTRAK This thesis is entitled Understanding and Practicing the Religion of the Silver Man in the Keramasan Area, Kertapati District Palembang, South Sumatra. The formulation of the problems in this study are. How is the religious understanding of the silver man in the Keramasan area of Kertapati District Palembang South Sumatra and how is the religious practice of the silver man in the Keramasan Area of Kertapati District Palembang South Sumatra. The purpose of the problem to be achieved from this research. To find out how the silver man's religious understanding and how the silver man's religious practice. The type of research used in this thesis is field research with qualitative data. The data sources in this research are primary data sources and secondary data sources. Primary data sources are information from silver humans in the keramasan area, Kertapati sub-district, Palembang, South Sumatra, totaling 3 people. Secondary data sources are scientific papers, journals related to the research. Data collection techniques in this thesis are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this thesis include three ways, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. As for the results of research findings on the religious understanding of silver people is still lacking because they are more focused on working to make money and fulfill their daily needs. They know the obligatory five daily prayers but do not pray. Likewise, the parents of silver people also lack understanding of religion. The silver humans' understanding of their own aurat is that they only wear shorts and the whole body is painted silver, they also do not understand the limits of aurat. This is due to one of them because the silver man's education is also not good, many of them drop 2 out of school because of family economic problems that require them to stop school. In terms of religious practice, silver people in the Keramasan Area, Kertapati District, Palembang, South Sumatra, do not always practice religious teachings or forget their obligations. Factors that influence the religious practice of silver people, namely, educational background factors, economic factors, environmental and family factors. The influence also comes from the social environment, experiences and thoughts of silver people which make them prioritize work over worship. They know their obligations but they are reluctant to do so because of the bad environment. Keywords: Understanding, Practicing, Religion, Silver Man
